A note about the Starz Reunion Tour by Joe X Dube

I've been laying kinda low til now to properly weigh in with everyone regarding what just happened. I've been remiss not through lack of desire to express, it's simply taken me up until this moment to be able to carve out enough time to be able to adequately let everyone know how I felt about what we just did. Three meetings, 147 e-mails and 22 voice mail messages took up most of my time since Wednesday morning, plus I was still feeling a little loopy. Today is better.

I'm not sure I have the words to completely express how incredible I thought the entire thing was. In many respects, I believe I enjoyed those three gigs better than just about any that we had done previously when we were really 'trying'. The feel was so right-on because I don't think we had anything to prove musically. We know what we have and how good it is, we just needed to put it out there for folks to enjoy. And boy, did they ever! The people that showed up to see us play define the word 'fan'.

My vote for the best gig was Don Hill's followed closely by JAXX. JAXX, you were a perfect cherry-buster and I'll always remember you, but by the time we got to NYC, we were really kicking some substantial ass. We had become the finely-honed, well-oiled rock machine that we had all hoped we would become (false start into Detroit Girls not withstanding!) I apologize to all of you for getting a little woozy at the Wreck Room but hey, that's life on the road.

The feedback has been blowing my mind. The fan's reviews, the pix, the review in Stepping Out mag; all amazing. Right now I'm still enjoying the post-coital afterglow cigarette.

Mr. Manners, you are absolutely right. We really should send some thank you notes out to those folks who helped us along the way. I've asked the boys in graphics to whip up a little STARZ notecard thing that we can use. Actually, I stopped by Don Hill's on Wednesday on my way home and thanked Don again. He said it was one of those evenings that was not work but truly enjoyable for him.

Thank you all. You make it swell.
I love you guys. You're the best.
